Furniture Design

Most of our furniture designs are created based on our urban cottage style.  This is a mix between a rustic cottage design style with an urban twist.

We are focused on designing and building custom furniture using locally sourced wood from within Canada.  This includes using wood from sustainable harvested forests and tree farms (including our home farm), as well as using reclaimed wood. The use of reclaimed wood provides unique character to each piece as well as being an eco-friendly choice to build with.

Some of our furniture examples include:

  • Dining tables/ harvest tables

  • Coffee tables

  • Side tables

  • Console tables

  • Office desks

  • Headboards

  • Mirrors/ frames

  • Shelves

  • TV consoles

  • Book cases

We also love to design and build beautiful live edge tables in a variety of unique shapes and sizes using the live edge slabs that we milled at our family farm.

Milling our Own Wood!

In the summer of 2017, we custom milled several hardwood logs from our forest including cherry, maple, and ash wood.

We are passionate about protecting the forest and preserving it for continued future growth, therefore we do not cut down any live trees.  All of the trees we milled had either already fallen or had been damaged from a storm.  By practicing sustainable ways to harvest the wood, we are able to remove and make good use of the fallen trees as well as promote healthy growth for the other trees within the forest.

Most of the fallen trees were cut into 10-12 foot length sections and milled in 1-2.5 inch thickness.  Once they were milled, each slab was then stickered (spaced), strapped, stacked and stored inside a ventilated structure.  This drying process has allowed the wood slabs to dry over the last few years to a low moisture level where we can then use the wood to build furniture.

We are committed to utilizing every part of the tree including the smaller live edge slabs which are used to make charcuterie boards and serving trays, while the larger milled slabs are used to build live edge tables as well as counter tops and bar tops.

We now have hundreds of live edge slabs in maple, cherry and ash fully dried and available for sale.  These slabs are beautiful!  The grain of the wood looks amazing and several slabs are spalted giving each piece unique character and design.

If you have any questions about any of our live edge slabs or are looking to purchase some to make your own furniture, please contact us!
